Indoor concert w/ Space Dingus + Nuclear Juarez + Mockingbird Express
Nuclear Juarez (San Antonio, TX) – 8:30 pm
Low-brow beatnik wanderers, incinerating the sound of the Ventures with primitive instinct and the swagger of Gamera. Featuring Gus Wanner on lead guitar, ‘Mighty’ Mike Pittman on bass and Brian “the Casbah” Parrish on the drums.
Space Dingus (Joplin, MO) – 9:30 pm
Born of a mutual love for science fiction, a habit of laughing when “black holes” are referenced, and a shared sense of crippling insecurities, Space Dingus emerged from the void of endless loneliness to bring surf-psych inspired tunes into the cosmos. Featuring Daniel Kissel (Guitar/Vocals), Jerod Thomas (Bass),
Jason Hight (Drums), and Patrick Rosenow (Guitar/Vocals)
Mockingbird Express (San Antonio, TX) – 10:30 pm
Mockingbird Express is a new leaf on a tree with roots that run deep. Based in the traditions of early blues and psychedelia, this power trio explores rock and roll music with fearless and frenzied abandon. The leader of the group is Mockingbird Smith – a Texas native with spiritual and musical heritages that stretch in all directions. Retracing the tracks of the rock trios from a hazy yesteryear, the “King Bird” blazes a new but familiar trail through the wilderness of the modern psychedelic soundscape. Part acid freak-out, part gospel tent revival, the live experience of Mockingbird Express on stage leaves audiences with little to question about the group’s intentions: turn on, turn up, take off. Do yourself a solid and get higher with Mockingbird Express.
