Jorge Alegría (b.1971) lives and works in his hometown of Corpus Christi, TX where he attended Del Mar College and Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi. His work is heavily influenced by science fiction, movie production, his appreciation of nature, bird-watching, and growing cacti and succulents in his youth. In recent years, talk radio, literature, and woodworking have also informed much of his studio practice. For the past two decades his exquisite graphite drawings and paintings have been included in group and solo exhibitions across Texas including (Solo) American Dream, Houston Community College, Houston, TX; (Solo) Supernova, Kirk Hopper Fine Art, Dallas, TX; (Solo) Heaven, Rockport Center for the Arts, Rockport, TX; (Group) Target Texas: Drawn Worlds, Art Museum of South Texas, Corpus Christi, TX; (Group) Texas Draws III, Southwest School of Art, San Antonio, TX.
