The Team

Jenelle Esparza is an interdisciplinary artist and fifth-generation Tejana born in the coastal city of Corpus Christi, TX. Esparza has exhibited nationally in institutions such as The DePaul Art Museum in Chicago, IL, and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, AR. In 2023 Esparza was invited to participate in the Fountainhead Residency in Miami, FL. She also received numerous honors, including the 2015 NALAC Artist Grant and the summer 2018 Artpace International Artist Residency. Esparza’s artwork was recently acquired at included in the permanent collection of the San Antonio Museum of Art. She is currently preparing for an upcoming solo exhibition at the Denver Art Museum in late 2023. In addition, Esparza is also Interim Head of the Education Department at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio.

Rigoberto Luna is an artist, designer, independent curator, and first-generation native of San Antonio, TX. Luna has curated numerous exhibitions heavily focused on and advocating for Latinx artists living and working in Central and South Texas. In February of 2023, he curated and organized Soy de Tejas: A Statewide Survey of Latinx Art at Centro de Artes with support from the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts and Culture. Luna worked as the Curatorial Assistant and Exhibitions Coordinator for the 2021 Texas Biennial. He has participated as a guest juror or panelist for non-profits across Texas, including Rockport Center for the Arts, K Space Contemporary in Corpus Christi, Art League Houston, Houston Arts Alliance, the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures, and Big Medium in Austin, TX. Luna is currently developing and guest curating the 27th edition of Mexic-Arte Museum’s Emerging Latinx Artist (formerly Young Latinx Artist) exhibition, opening in July of 2023. Luna is also presently working at the San Antonio Museum of Art Exhibitions Department.
